We at ABCO never stop looking for new and even simpler ways to build the Liquid Piston Engine. As you already know, the engine built from pipe fittings is an exciting, easy and inexpensive project.
Another "perfectly logical" project for this fascinating engine was to design a "see-through" model of the engine so everyone can see inside the engine while it is running. To meet the ABCO standard of bringing you exciting projects with very low construction costs, the transparent model had to be all of these things:
1. Easy enough for almost anyone to make. (Requires no soldering!)
2. Ability to run almost anywhere, (even demonstrate it indoors.)
3. Operate from an "indoor safe" heat source.
4. Be able to run for long periods as in indoor demonstrations.
5. Cost very little to build.
6. Require no special equipment or material not available locally.
7. Small and compact.
8. Self-starting like the other engine.
All these requirements have been satisfied with ease, because of the great simplicity of the Liquid Piston Engine.
This model uses plastic slip-on fittings and clear vinyl tubing which are available at almost any plumbing supply store, Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. at very low cost. The engine is powered by plugging a cord into your home's electrical wiring receptacle. The simple electrical parts are available at your local Radio Shack store.
We have put all this information together in an additional plan package so you can easily make the transparent engine in only a few hours. You will use some information found in the Liquid Piston Engine from Pipe Fittings Plan Package.
